Food Fight Breaks Out in Ukrainian Parliament

Lowering the Bar picked up a hilarious story about a food fight breaking out in the Ukrainian Parliament. During a recent battle over whether Russia's lease on the naval base at Sevastopol would be extended, opposition lawmakers set off smoke bombs in the chamber and threw eggs at Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn. Lytvyn took shelter under an umbrella and kept working as the eggs continued to fly.

Mark Carney makes Time’s Top 100

Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of Canada, has been named to Time Magazine's Top 100 most influential people of 2010.

He was ranked No. 21 on Time's list of 25 influential leaders. Brazil's president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was named No. 1 on that list, with U.S. President Barack Obama coming in at No. 4. Other categories covered by the Time 100 list included thinkers, heroes and artists.

"Central bankers aren't often young, good-looking and charming, but Mark Carney is all three -- not to mention wicked smart," the magazine said in its Top 100 issue.

Despite having passed away a month before the vote, Carl Geary was elected mayor of his town with over three times as many votes as his nearest competitor.

"Run Norway" app from the Apple Store

The Huffington Post reported that Jens Stoltenberg, the Prime Minister of Norway who has been stranded in New York City because of that crazy volcanic ash that has forced international flights to be canceled, has been running his country from an iPad.

Tosh.O has this hilarious commentary on the matter:
"Yes, that picture above is Stoltenberg running Norway. Apparently, he downloaded the Run Norway app from the Apple app store. But really? You shouldn't be able to run a country from an iPad. This isn't SimCity. In fact, you shouldn't have to run a country from an iPad. Get a freaking laptop, hippies!"

I love Vice PresidentJoe Biden. He's always good for some laughs. Recently, perhaps overcome with excitement during his speech congratulating President Obama on the passage of health care reform, dropped an F-bomb on live television when he turned to Obama and said, "This is a big fucking deal." I love it.
